The Delaware River is a 595-kilometre-long river in the eastern United States.
Its two headwaters, the East Branch Delaware River and the West Branch Delaware River, originate in the Catskill Mountains in the US state of New York. It flows into the Delaware Bay, located between the states of Delaware and New Jersey, into the Atlantic Ocean.
The Delaware river basin covers around 30,000 km². The ocean current flows far up the Delaware, making it navigable for larger ships as far as Philadelphia.
