The Schwentine is one of the longest rivers in Schleswig-Holstein. It originates near the state's highest point - on a source meadow of the Bungsberg - and flows through the entire Holstein Switzerland. It flows into the Kiel Fjord and thus into the Baltic Sea in Kiel.
Except for the immediate mouth area, there is no freight shipping on the Schwentine anymore. Instead, many excursion boats are underway, offering trips such as the 5-lake tour or the Schwentine valley tour. In addition, water sports enthusiasts such as paddlers, rowers, and sailors can be found.
